A small piece of decorative Victorian fireplace, attached to a section of farm machinery base, supports a drive shaft mounted vertically on it with a heavy bolt welded to its top end, to produce a stand.
A square nail across the end of the bolt acts as a stop to hold in place a composite item of horse tack that consists of a short length of chain attached to a swivel piece, to which are joined two further chains, with the links solidified but with the swivel piece free to move.
This makes a double catenary supported in its centre only, resembling the "paper chain" that we used to make at - "Christmas time".
